Dr. Beasley’s founder and chemist Jim Lafeber created Gloss Builder after our Authorized Detailer network practically demanded we release it.

You see, Gloss Builder started as a prep solution included with our ceramic coating kits. But our Authorized Detailers thought it could be something more.

Like many other professional coatings, Dr. Beasley’s ceramic coating kits use a two-step process: first a pre-application of a solution called “Paint Coating Builder” followed by application of the ceramic coating itself. 

Our Authorized Detailers raved constantly about Paint Coating Builder, hyping up the gloss and how durable it made their ceramic coatings, even when working outside the Dr. Beasley’s system. 

The only problem? It came in a tiny 2 oz bottle that was only available in our coating kits.

So they asked: “Jim, what do we have to do to get this product by itself?”

Always a solution-focused engineer, Jim got in the lab and reformulated Paint Coating Builder for maximum reflectivity.

Once Jim completed his updated formula, we asked ourselves: “Do we still call this Paint Coating Builder? Is this something different?” 

There was only one other name we could think of: Gloss Builder.

  1. Surface Smoothness: Gloss Builder’s nanostructure helps level out the paint’s surface without the use of filling silicones and oil. The nanostructure creates smooth surface that’s optimized for reflectivity.
  2. Increased Depth: With each layer Gloss Builder increases the sense of depth to the paint’s gloss, creating the “swimming” effect car show entrants chase.

Building a Durable Ceramic Bond

Ceramic coatings live and die by how strongly they’re bonded with the car’s paint. If the bond with the paint isn’t durable, neither is the coating.

Gloss Builder helps ensure you’re getting the best bond possible. When applied before ceramic coating, it lays down anchor points for the coating to crosslink with. This crosslink bond is ultra durable and ensures the ceramic coating will last the duration of its expected longevity. 

Use Dr. Beasley’s Nano Surface Primers for paintwork correction? Gloss Builder works in tandem with NSPs, establishing anchor points and priming the paint for bonding. Using the two in concert will increase coating durability!

We want you to be happy with every product. Unopened products in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days with your receipt or order confirmation for a refund or exchange.

Because of the nature of our products, opened chemicals, soaps, and coatings are final sale. Towels, brushes, pads, and accessories must be unused and in resalable condition. Class enrollments and store credit are non-refundable but can be transferred to a future class. Received something damaged? Contact us within 7 days and we will make it right.

Right now we offer free in-store pickup at all three San Fernando Valley locations. Order online and our team has it ready at the counter, often the same day. You will get a notification when your order is ready.

Pickup at Winnetka, North Hills, and Canoga Park. Bring your order confirmation and a photo ID. Orders are held for 14 days. Nationwide shipping is coming soon.
