Why Use Marine Ceramic Base?

Marine Ceramic Base is a nano ceramic coating engineered specifically for boat owners who demand long-lasting protection in the harshest marine environments. This protective layer forms an extremely hard, durable barrier that bonds directly to your gel coat, shielding it from UV rays, salt water, salt spray, and environmental contaminants that cause oxidation and fading.

Unlike traditional wax or polymer sealant options that require constant reapplication, this marine ceramic coating becomes the functional surface of your boat’s gel coat, delivering superior protection against swirl marks and black streaks from poor washing techniques. Whether you’re protecting a new boat, jet ski, or inflatable boat hull, Marine Ceramic Base provides the brilliant shine and surface protection that keeps your vessel looking pristine with proper care.

Simple steps to help you get the best results

  • Perfect – If applying this ceramic coating product directly to the boat’s gelcoat or topcoat, polish the surface to remove any imperfections.
  • Degrease – Ceramic Top bonds best to surgically clean surfaces. Use Gtechniq Panel Wipe and a Gtechniq MF1 Microfibre to remove all polish residue.
  • Application – Soak the application pad with product. Spread onto an area measuring no more than 2’ by 2’ (60 x 60cm) and remove residue with a Gtechniq MF1 Microfibre.
  • Product usage – When deciding to use this ceramic coating product on your boat, the amount of product you will need will vary depending on factors such as the microporosity of either your gel coat or marine topcoat. Requirement will be anywhere between 5.5 to 7ml/square meter (0.5 to 0.7 ml/square foot).

The Gtechniq Difference

At Gtechniq, we develop marine protection products using advanced nanochemistry designed to outperform in real-world conditions. Marine Ceramic Base exemplifies this commitment, providing boat owners and boat detailing professionals with a coating that truly protects against the unique elements of the marine environment.

What sets Marine Ceramic Base apart from ceramic spray coatings and standard wax is its permanent chemical bond with your gel coat or marine paint. This nano ceramic technology creates a protective layer with exceptional UV protection that prevents oxidation, resists water spots, and maintains a high gloss appearance. The self-cleaning properties mean contaminants simply don’t stick, making washes far easier.

Frequently Asked Questions

What prep work is required before applying Marine Ceramic Base?

Proper application starts with thorough surface preparation. If your gel coat shows oxidation or imperfections, use a rotary polisher with an appropriate wool pad or cutting compound to restore the surface. Clean all surfaces with prep spray or denatured alcohol and a microfiber towel to remove any residue. For older boats with heavy oxidation, professional boat detailing may be recommended before coating application.

Can Marine Ceramic Base be used on vinyl surfaces or inflatable boats?

Marine Ceramic Base is specifically formulated for gel coat and marine paint surfaces. For vinyl surface protection or inflatable boat applications, consult your professional detailer or consider Gtechniq products designed for those specific materials.

How does Marine Ceramic Base compare to traditional wax for boat protection?

Marine ceramic coating offers significantly longer-lasting protection than traditional wax. While wax requires frequent reapplication and breaks down quickly in salt water and UV exposure, Marine Ceramic Base creates a permanent bond that delivers years of UV protection, oxidation resistance, and a slicker surface that repels water spots and environmental contaminants.

Should I use Marine Ceramic Base alone or with Marine Ceramic Top?

While Marine Ceramic Base provides excellent standalone protection with superior hardness and UV resistance, pairing it with Marine Ceramic Top enhances hydrophobic properties and dirt repellency. The two-stage application process delivers the ultimate in surface protection for boat owners who want maximum performance.

How do I maintain my boat after applying Marine Ceramic Base?

With proper care, maintaining your coated boat is simple. Regular freshwater rinses after salt water exposure and gentle washing will keep surfaces looking their best. Avoid harsh chemicals and use pH-neutral cleaners designed for coated surfaces. The coating’s self cleaning properties mean less scrubbing during each wash.
